Building relationships is one
of the hallmarks of this business. And the internet is a powerful tool
that enables Independent Business Owners to
reach out to others. That’s why your IBOAI Board
wants to ensure that this technology remains
viable for every IBO.
In partnership with
Amway Global, the
IBOAI has established Rules for Internet Use and
carefully monitors the internet to ensure
they’re being followed. Keep in mind the IBOs
who violate these Rules face a six-month
suspension of their business.
A few key Rules to Remember:
1.
No “spamming."
“Spam” is defined as unsolicited,
commercial email. Whether used for recruiting
or selling product, “spam” is against the
Rules. Be sure to send emails only to those
people with whom you have a pre-existing
relationship.
2.
Prospecting websites require
password-only access.
As an IBO, you can use a website
for prospecting – but only if it’s
password-protected and the content reviewed and
authorized. A website that’s open to anyone
amounts to unauthorized advertising. Password
access ensures that the person visiting your
site has a prior relationship with you.
3.
No advertising.
Amway Global
recognizes the importance of advertising and
wants IBOs to be competitive. However, for a
number of reasons,
Amway Global has prohibited mass
advertising by IBOs to give everyone and equal
opportunity to market the products and their
business, as well as to ensure that only those
who are interested in the business will be
reached. Like so many things in this world,
technology has created an opportunity to achieve
both goals.
For that reason,
Amway Global has
modified Rule 9.8 to allow IBOs to advertise
through internet searches engines in a very
specific manner. Please see Rule 9.8 for
changes and also the new corresponding Bulletin
26.
Some local advertising is
permitted, provided that the medium and content
has been authorized by
Amway Global.
4. Don’t use trademarks to
identify your site.
Trademarks or service marks owned
by
Amway Global are not allowed in a website domain
name or an email address. For example, naming
your website
Artistry.com would give you an
unfair advantage over the other IBOs who sell
Artistry
products. An email address of
GoQuixtar@XX.com
would create confusion about whether someone is
communicating with and IBO or with
Amway Global.
Remember, all website content
must be reviewed and approved by
Amway Global before
being posted, including changes to content
already posted. You can contact your business
support team for review procedures.
