The
Amway Global business had just completed another
successful year ― in fact, a third
consecutive year of billion-dollar sales. But
instead of celebrating at their October meeting, the
Independent Business Owners Association
International Board (IBOAI) was focused on
innovation.
The Board devoted
the meeting to focusing on the future ― to
taking a long-term view of the business and
planning for ongoing, sustainable growth. So
besides addressing current issues, Board members
and
Amway Global staff
zeroed in on business basics like product mix,
pricing, incentives, communications, and rules.
Next, the Board
committees ― Awards & Recognition, Business
Operations, Legal & Ethics,
Multicultural/International, and Marketing
Advisory Committee ― offered up a wide-ranging
set of proposals. Each was drafted with one goal
in mind: boosting the profitability and
durability of Amway Global businesses at all levels,
from new IBOs to Platinums to Diamonds and
above.
In other business,
the group elected its 2006 officers, voting in
Greg Duncan as chairman and Don Wilson as vice
chairman. They also welcomed new members Brad
Duncan, Kanti Gala, Chuck Goetschel, Don Held,
Scott Holland, and Bill Newton. In a move to
strengthen the association's ongoing operation,
the Board launched the Governance & Oversight
Committee, appointing Billy Florence and Jody
Victor as its first members. And new Marketing
Advisory Committee members Laurie Woodward and
Jann Newton were welcomed.
As is its custom,
the Board presented several special service
awards during the last meeting of the year. To
recognize her years of service on the Marketing
Advisory Committee, the Board presented Kathy
Victor with the Joe Victor Leadership Award. Two
recipients accepted the Jere Dutt Lifetime
Achievement Award this year: long-time legal
counsel William Halliday and veteran Board
advisor Billy Zeoli.
In the coming
year, the Board will continue the work it began
in 2005, partnering with
Amway Global to
develop and implement new initiatives proposed
at this year-end meeting.
