Charter Member and Driving Influence of the American Way Association

"I watched it all happen," says Jere Dutt about the formation of the AWA and t he Corporation. Truth is, Jere did much more than watch. As a charter member of the AWA, he had enormous input on the structure and purpose of the organization. Then he helped guide the AWA through its early years by serving 13 consecutive years on the Board of Directors, including five years as President.

"The charter members of the Association had no doubt that the new business would be successful," Jere remembers.

"I firmly believed that this business would be the biggest thing this country had ever seen, and we're still only beginning we haven't scratched the surface yet. We felt we knew where we were going. We just didn't know how long it would take to get there."

Jere started his Nutrilite Distributorship in 1952 and converted it into an Amway Distributorship in 1959. He and his wife, Eileen, became the first Diamond IBOs in 1964 and the first Double Diamonds in 1966. Their business is now run by three generations in the Dutt family.
